If you’re like most people, you have an overwhelming sense of excitement and ambition come the new year. Also like most people, perhaps you hit Jan with a fire under your ass, but when Feb rolls around you have slowly begun to lose steam, fervor, and action. Also, 2021 kicked many of our asses, so there’s that to contend with. Many people (and maybe YOU) enter the New Year with many plans and intentions, but somehow end up a bit off track sooner than later.
In this episode, I address the biggest obstacles people unknowingly establish for themselves when crafting New Year’s goals and “resolutions”. Yep, you read that right… many people actually make their job a shit-ton harder by not setting themselves up for success to begin with. I also share my personal planning tool I use to ensure I establish solid goals in aaaaall areas of my life (not just fitness and money… but, yes, those too). Be sure to grab your free planning guide so you can plan and organize a seriously epic 2022 by figuring out what categories in which you would like to make headway. Plus, you’ll have sexy, little worksheets to record all your brilliance!
This pod explores:
The two biggest mistakes people make when crafting goals for the new year
How to assess where you are in your life now and where you want to be in a year’s time
How to create goals that are really about YOUR fulfillment, are totally attainable, and light you up
Why you probably don’t want to celebrate your 2021 accomplishments, but you kinda, absolutely MUST

There are certain words that get tossed around the personal development space and are often used without much thought or accuracy. It could be argued that one such word is “intention”. It’s not uncommon to hear someone say “What is your intention for the day?” and often the question is simply implying “Where is your focus going to be today?” But, what if the concept of intention was much broader and actually about who you are being in your life? How you are showing up. Your frequency. Your “come from”.
In this week’s episode, I’m so thrilled to dial up an expert who has created an entire well-being company (Evók Life) rooted in the idea of powerful intention. I’m chatting with the incomparable Radiah Rhodes on what intention truly means, and we dig into the powerful Intention Scale tool she’s created to help aid in analyzing how you are operating as it relates to a certain goal you want to achieve. For example, if you are looking to make a shift in your career, are you operating from a place of Wishing? Resisting? Avoiding? What would shift for you if you were working toward that goal from a place of Believing, Knowing, or Embodying? Like, everything, amiright!?
Tune in and find out how you can use Radiah’s Intention Scale to examine where you’ve holding yourself back from the dreams and ambitions you desire and the tactical steps you can take to start operating from a place of personal power. We also discuss the default behaviors (people-pleasing, control, perfectionism, etc.) that may be arresting your greatest happiness and fulfillment. Get some!
This pod explores:
Three ways we value “truth” in our society and how that influences your well-being
Radiah’s “Intention Scale” and how it can shift your fulfillment in all areas of your life
How we get caught up in constant “doing” and how to shift into powerfully “being”
Understanding our default behaviors and how they may be holding you back from happiness

Unless you had some kind of utopian upbringing, it’s likely that you were taught how to use logic, reason, and rationale to dictate your choices and actions… to ensure you were doing the “right” thing. But, it’s highly unlikely that someone taught you how to be still, listen to your internal knowing, and lean on your intuition for guidance. In fact, many of us receive a shit-ton of messages about what God deems “right”, what our parents deem “right” or what society tells us is “right”. Nevermind what we intuit as “right”.
So, then you hear personal development peeps (possibly even me) tell you to listen to your intuition and what your “gut is telling you” and you’re like, “Ummmmm… Sure. I’ll get right on that. Right after I do my pros and cons list.” It can feel like a foriegn task to listen to your internal knowing when you have constantly leaned on everyone and everything outside of yourself to aid in your decision-making.
This week on the show, I’m so thrilled to dial up an expert on the subject of Intuition. L’Erin Alta is a powerful medicine woman + mystic living in full devotion to her spiritual calling. She helps black women, femme, and gender expansive folk make money from a soul-filled place. Um, hello! In this rich convo, we discuss the concept of “God” and how that intersects with Intuition, the damaging conditioning of some religion, the connection between intuition and abundance, and what it looks like to lean into and allow your intuition to speak to you. Get ready for a handful of “ah-ha” moments!
This pod explores:
Understanding the definition of intuition and why it’s so tough for many of us to tap into it
Untangling guidance from “Source” and religious dogma
The #1 step to tapping in and honing your intuition
How intuition is directly related to our relationship with abundance

Find yourself dreading holiday functions with your family because it’s only a matter of time until your mom pesters you about why you don’t go to church anymore… or you aunt gives you shit for not having kids or not being married… or your uncle gets in a heated (uncomfortable) “discussion” about gun rights? Or perhaps you’re dreading the impending convo where your bro asks you for money. Again.
Even though the holidays are supposed to be merry and bright, they can often be the most stressful when it comes to dealing with our families. Enter years of baggage, a shit-ton of guilt, mix in some alcohol, and you have a family holiday that leaves you feeling like shit instead of connected with those you supposedly love the most. If this sounds any kind of familiar, all is not lost. And, believe it or not, you can totally take back your holiday experience, boundary your ass off, and consciously CHOOSE your focus this holiday. Even if your sister is an ass-hat.
This pod explores:
How to prepare for your family function ahead of time to set you up for success… even if your family is giving the circus a run for their money
What it really looks like to set up healthy boundaries and actually follow through on them
How to avoid (or end) uncomfortable conversations with the utmost grace
How to decide exactly what you want to focus on during the get-together… you know, so you can actually enjoy yourself

So… You’re going to an event where you’ll see people you haven’t seen for a hot minute. And you’re a few pants sizes bigger than when they saw you last and you can’t stop ruminating on what people are going to think/say about your weight. What will be running through their minds!? They will all be judging me! I’m so disgusting! I can’t go out like this!
We’ve all been there.
But have you ever stopped to think why we find this to be the absolute WORST thing that could happen to a woman? Could it possibly be that our culture values men for what they can produce and values women for what they look like? Of course it is. So, it’s no wonder that most of us grow up with the idea that we need to constantly improve our bodies and for the love of god, lose some damn weight already! Never enough. Never fucking enough. And, we get this message everywhere. From our families, media, romantic partners, media, advertising. Everywhere.
In this week’s episode, I have the great fortune to dial up Susan Hyatt, a master certified life and business coach, who sounds OFF on the constant pull to perfect and constantly shrink our bodies in order to be deemed acceptable by society, how it’s a giant pile or patriarchal bullshit, and what we can actually do about it. Susan also talks about the connection between diet culture and hustle culture and why dismantling both of these concepts is essential to our self-worth and happiness. Have a listen and get ready for a healthy dose of freedom.
This pod explores:
The origin of diet culture in the U.S. and how that relates to graham crackers
The connection between diet culture and hustle culture and why they both need to be dismantled
How trying to “shrink” your body is a metaphor for you playing small and not taking up space
Where to start if you have been at war with your body for decades

Ever find yourself having a type grip on controlling damn near everything and wonder why-the-hell you have that tendency? Or maybe you constantly try to make everyone else happy and find yourself pleasing everyone (except yourself) and you’re starting to see that this behavior is just not working anymore. Or perhaps you don’t think anything is worth doing unless it is absolute PERFECT so you end up overthinking and procrastinating. Any of those sound familiar?
What if I told you that there was a tool that could help you understand why you are pulled to these behaviors and what you can do to either embrace them, re-brand them, or alter them from a place of personal power? You’d be all over it, right? Spoiler: THERE IS A TOOL! Bet you didn’t see that coming (lol).

Sarajane provides a rich perspective on how understanding our Enneagram type can help offer ourselves huge doses of compassion while we work on embracing who we are and genuinely believing in ourselves. Be sure to grab a pen and paper because Sarajane throws out a bunch of journaling prompts you won’t want to miss!

How to look at the fucked up part of ourselves and actually not hate ourselves for it (Wait.. WHAT!?)
Understanding the 9 enneagram types and what that means for how you view your self-worth
Journal prompts/inquiries for each type to help you access your strengths and access some self-belief
Understanding how the self-help industry is failing us (All dramatic)

Are you worthy of love? Yes. Of course. Absolutely.
But do you believe you are worthy of love? That’s an entirely different question altogether.
If you have ever questioned if you are lovable or deserving of love, you are amongst great company, my friend. Whether it be a rough example in your formidable years of what someone must be/do to deserve love or whether it be a challenging relationship that constantly made you doubt your worth, it is unbelievably common to adopt a disempowering belief that you are simply not worthy, not deserving of love.
And, our society certainly doesn’t do us any favors with the barrage of media images of the select few who are perfectly white, wealthy, straight, young, and thin who are clearly deserving of love but the rest of us? The rest of us might as well get used to the idea that “We’re not worthy” [Wayne + Garth voice]. And then we do our damnedest to FORCE others to love us. Maybe if we’re perfect or if we achieve enough or if we constantly make sure everyone else is happy, we’ll get some of this illusive love we’ve heard of.
If any of this feels a bit like a punch to the gut, then you definitely need to have a listen to this week’s show. I discuss what believing you are lovable IS, what it IS NOT, what gets in the way of attaining this belief, and how to actually start shifting it. Get you some.
This pod explores:
The simple (but not necessarily easy) path to believing you are worthy of love
Understanding how you developed the belief that you aren’t lovable in the first place (Hi, Family of Origin!) and what you can do to change it
What’s at stake if you continue down a path of believing you aren’t lovable (Hint: Continuing to allow bullshit in your relationships is a part of it)
Why actually *believing* you’re worthy IS NOT the first place to start when you intentionally shift your beliefs

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering why self belief feels so damn illusive, you are certainly not alone. I mean, if you’re worried about what others think about you and you constantly find yourself spinning off into the land of “what ifs” it can be hard to simply tell yourself “you’ve got this” and actually believe it, amiright!?
In this week’s episode, I share 10 tangible tips you can implement TODAY that will aid you in cultivating some confidence and belief in self. Maybe you find yourself second guessing every choice you make or everything you say. Maybe you worry what your family will think if you tell them you aren’t a fan of marriage or having kids or running the family business. Ok, so let’s all collectively try to not freak out. Mel Robbins is on the show this week. Like, THE Mel Robbins. The Mel Robbins who’s sold millions of copies of her highly sought-after books, spoken to some of the biggest audiences all over the world, and who has built one of the biggest personal empowerment movements to date. Yeah… no big deal.
So, let me ask you a question. When you look in the mirror, how do you usually feel? What are the feelings that come up? (Ugh, Amy, really!?) How do you speak to yourself? Do you immediately pick yourself apart, assessing all the things you loathe about yourself? Or maybe you avoid the mirror altogether because you never have a good feeling engaging with yourself. Well, what if… what if you actually got excited to connect with that person in the mirror? What if you actually got a thrill and burst of dopamine by engaging with your image in a totally different way?
What the hell are you even talking about, you may be wondering. In this super fun and candid chat, Mel shares with me a new tool she used everyday in the mirror for over a year that completely changed her life. And it can change yours too. What is it you may ask? A simple high-five. To yourself. In the mirror. Every day. Why does it work? In a word: Science. But in words that last an hour, you’ll have to listen in to hear Mel speak about the science behind our positive association with the action of a high-five and what it can do to change the neural pathways in the brain. So, you can, like, make shit happen n’ stuff.
If you want to get out of your own way, finally be your own biggest fan, and finally start to make your god-damned dreams a reality, you won’t want to miss this gem of an episode. Oh, and, you should also probably buy her book.
This pod explores:
How Mel’s (deceased) Father-in-Law sent her an uncomfortable message from beyond the grave
Why your jealousy may not actually be a bad thing and what it’s trying to tell you and why Mel is totally jealous of me (I shit you not!)
Why many mantras are bullshit and how to craft beliefs you can actually buy into (Yes, please!)
Understanding the science behind high-fiving yourself in the mirror and why it just might change your life
My new bestie, Mel Robbins, one of the most requested motivational speakers in the world, is hosting a 5-day online challenge on GrowthDay called “The High 5 Challenge.” She’s offering it to y’all for FREE!
