EEver find yourself getting super pumped up about a new opportunity and all of sudden BAM! That little voice creeps in telling you why it’s going to be a total disaster, why you are sooooo not smart enough, why everyone else is surely going to figure out what a fraud you are, or simply that you just do not deserve such an opportunity? If any of that sounds waaaaaay too familiar, don’t panic! You’re super normal and this inner mind battle is something we ALL struggle with and there are some very practical ways to get a grip on this serious mind fuck.
Although the personal development community refers to this little voice as everything from The Ego to Inner Critic to The Saboteur, I personally resonate with the idea of an Inner Shit-Talker. That small piece of you who gets terrified of change, what others will think of you, and the always present attachment to “not enough”. In this episode, you’ll learn all about how to catch your IST red-handed, find out what you would RATHER be saying to yourself, and learn to empower your mind with self-talk that actually feels good. (As opposed to depressing and shitty.)
This pod explores:
Why much of what you say to yourself is actually bullshit
How to “catch” your Inner Shit-Talker and what common language to listen for
How to build positive mantras you can actually buy into without feeling like a big ‘ol liar
How to make this a true habit so believing in yourself becomes the new normal

TTell me if this sounds familiar: You find out your partner didn’t handle a bill they promised they would handle or maybe they forgot to pick up your kid when they were supposed to (throwing your schedule into pure chaos) and your first response is to Take. Them. To. School. I mean… you just totally rip them a new one. Or maybe you just give them the full-on silent treatment.
How about this one? Your partner is super upset about an incident with his/her boss and you’re like, “Just don’t let them get to you. I don’t know why you stew on this all day.” Yet, that statement seems to piss them off even more. ??
And, have you ever done *that thing* where your partner says one simple statement like, “Have you seen the checkbook?” and you immediately start to create story after story in your mind about how they don’t trust you with money, they think you took the checkbook and are a liar and a thief, you’re going to get in a huge fight which you may not recover from and then all of a sudden you’re totally destitute living on the streets and no one loves you. Whew! (Clearly, I’ve never done this… )
Nodding your head over there? Well, you are certainly not alone, my friend. We rarely have sound instruction on how to express our needs, how to communicate with one another, and how to resolve conflict. If you find yourself struggling in any of these areas, this week’s episode will give you an arsenal of tools and ideas to make major changes in your relationship TODAY.
This pod explores:
How to use vulnerability to create massive intimacy in your relationship (even if “vulnerability” has always terrified you)
How to examine your arguments/disagreements to find the “real” issue, instead of fighting about the “surface” issue – aka fighting about who ate the last of the tuna or who needs to do more laundry
What to do when you are SUPER pissed at your partner (instead of burning all their clothes on the front lawn)
What it really looks like to “put yourself in the other person’s shoes”

EEver find yourself thinking, “If my husband would just get his shit together, this relationship would be fine”? Or maybe you find yourself keeping score? Like, if he isn’t initiating sex, why should I? Or, if he can’t pick up his shit, why should I? OOne of the most amazing things about our current social climate is the influx of personal growth concepts and ideas. Although it’s been beautiful to see the self-help space blossom and expand, there are certainly some ways in which these concepts can stir up problems and sticking points.
For instance… Ever have a situation where you’re all pumped up to speak up for yourself and the other person does NOT react well? Or have you ever heard a new podcast or read a book and your first thought was that you HAVE TO tell your sister about it because Lawd, knows she needs it… and you completely forget to look at the application to YOUR life? Or maybe you’ve fallen into a hoarding pattern… where you collect program after program or book after book and you don’t actually implement what you’re learning. Or maybe they simply collect dust on your bookshelf or hard drive.
If any of those examples rings a bell, you’ll #def want to catch this episode. I share 5 ways self-help can go wrong and what you can do about it. And, trust, the remedies are actually super simple. Have a listen, call yourself out if needed, and get your ass back to your powerful life.
This pod explores:
Why some of your friends/fam may not be that interested (at all) in hearing about your personal growth
Why thinking “I’ve already dealt with this!” will actually set you back and how to shift your thinking to something more powerful
How to know if you are a personal development “collector” and how to actually IMPLEMENT what you’ve been learning
How to check that you aren’t branding someone as “toxic” simply so you can avoid a tough convo

How your body posture completely affects your confidence
Why having an opinion builds confidence

II used to flippantly refer to myself as a Perfectionist and oftentimes I would elude to it being somewhat of a badge of honor. As I got older and my anxiety increased, I realized that being a chronic perfectionist was actually STEALING my joy instead of making my job easier. But, how does one just stop being a perfectionist?
Perhaps you find yourself in the same boat; Vacillating between being SOLD on the idea that everything has to be just perfect and the conflicting desire to let things “go with the flow” or just be “good enough”. If you’ve found yourself in this dance, you are most certainly not alone. In this week’s episode, I break down just how detrimental the strive for perfection can be and how it often leads to much suffering, frustration, and angst.
Additionally, I dig into 5, easy-to-implement steps you can take to begin allowing room for your humanity without sacrificing excellence and how you can maintain your integrity AND your sanity.
This pod explores:
Why “Perfect” doesn’t really exist and how the pursuit of perfection can be #supes detrimental
How to figure out the personal “Rules” you’ve established for yourself that have locked you into perfectionism
How the quest for perfection keeps you trapped in the small picture rather than the big picture and why that matters
How to allow room for excellence and integrity in what you do, without the “pressure of perfect”

EEver have that experience where you realize aaaaaall the things you wish you would have said in a conversation earlier in the day? Or even a week ago? Like, maybe you were offended by something a co-worker said, but you chose to let it slide, and now, upon reflection, you’re totally beating yourself up for not saying something in the moment. I mean… you know you should have spoken up, but what do you do about it now? Just feel like shit about yourself? Um, no.
Recently a listener reached out the show expressing her challenge with this specific issue. She was curious if there were any ways she could catch herself in the moment instead of dealing with “delayed regret”. Turns out, there are a number of things you can do, which I dig into on this week’s episode.
Additionally, another listener posed a question about how to have the tough convo with a family member you’ve deemed too toxic and abusive to stay connected to. Do you just say, “Hey, you’re a bit too abusive and toxic, so I’m out.”? Not exactly. But, not to fear, in this week’s mailbag episode, I share my favorite tips and tools for handling these tricky boundaries and how to speak up in a way that kicks the guilt to the curb and leaves you feeling confident and proud AF.
This pod explores:
How to start speaking up even if you’re terrified and your track record isn’t stellar
My favorite way to “catch yourself in the moment” so you can speak up when it really matters
How to know if you need to kick someone to the curb or if you actually need to have a heartfelt conversation instead (You may be surprised at my answer!)
Three steps to establishing boundaries that will have you speaking up in no time!

AAhhhh… The lovely concept of “Work/Life Balance”. So… is this really something that can actually be attained or is it some bullshit notion we feed ourselves that actually leaves us feeling worse about not even remotely being, ah-hem, balanced? I would argue for the latter. In our world of perpetual busyness and glorifying burnout, OF COURSE we often feel like we are coming up short, we’re letting people down, we’re constantly behind, and we’re chronically overwhelmed. Sound familiar? Well, you’re certainly not alone.
I think we all like the idea of balancing our work and private life but I would guess that it often feels more like a corporate buzzword more than something you can actually practice. Because, HOW? How exactly does one be a badass at work, kill it in all your relationships, take care of your health, and contribute the greater good of this world? Oh, and raise evolved children. And, be happy doing it all.
Exactly. You don’t. You can’t. Something’s gotta give. In this week’s show I dig into two different ways you may be off balance, new ways to view your work/life dynamic, and five “balance hacks” that will zero in on your sticking points and give you real solutions for change. This is a must-listen if you’re overworked, over-stressed, and over-committed. You’re welcome.
This pod explores:
How to decipher if your overwhelm is chronic or situational and what to do in both instances
What perfectionism, all-or-nothing thinking, and self-care have to do with work/life balance
The solution to your stress that is likely right in front of your face… and it will help you tremendously!
The key question to ask yourself when you are stretched beyond your limit that will get you back to sanity in a heartbeat

TTell me if this sounds familiar: You have “this friend”… and this friend is perhaps someone you’ve known forever. Maybe you saw each other through some tough times, but at this particular place in your life, this friendship has been feeling downright toxic. But you guilt yourself saying, “Well, we’ve been friends since college” or “Am I a dick if I don’t want to be there for her anymore?”
If that sounds at all familiar, you are in the same boat that many people find themselves in when they reach their 30s and 40s. You’ve grown as a person, your life has changed, and your priorities have shifted. But, you still feel tethered to this historical relationship that feels more like it’s robbing you dry than adding to your intimate connections.
A listener of the show wrote to the pod asking how to actually let go of one of these friendships. I mean, how do you go about breaking up with a friend? Is there an approach? How do you know if you’re being a big ‘ol meanie? If you’ve been pulled to part ways with a friendship, but have no idea what-the-hell that actually looks like, you may want to have a listen. I discuss 3 major concepts you need to keep in mind (you know, to keep your shit straight) and 2 specific methods you can take to actually pull the trigger on the “break up”.
This pod explores:
How to tap into the “real” reason you’re looking to end the friendship
How to get connected to the way you need to conduct yourself so you’re proud of your own behavior (even if the other person loses their shit)
How to determine if there is any way the friendship can be salvaged
Two specific methods to “break up” with this unfulfilling friendship

SSo, your boss is a micromanaging asshat. Or your parents were pretty assholey to you while you were growing up. Or maybe your ex pulled some seriously shady shit. And let’s just say that the idea of ‘forgiveness’ seems at the very least, laughable, and at the most, completely impossible.
If you’ve found yourself hell-bent on blaming and resenting your mother-in-law, your ex, your annoying colleague, or whoever, it’s likely that you’ve found yourself feeling angry, frustrated, and victim-y. Although the behavior of others can be infuriating and insidious, it’s actually up to YOU how much you continue to suffer over their deeds. Wait, WHAT!?
I know… It’s cray. But, listen up, babycakes. If you are committed to your blame, you are committed to your suffering. Period. But, not to fear, in this week’s pod episode, I sound off on five key steps you can take to let go of all your anger and resentment and leave these issues/people in the past so you can move forward into your brilliant life already!
This pod explores:
Understanding what forgiveness IS and what it IS NOT (which might surprise you!)
Why it’s important that you forgive but DON’T FORGET… because, boundaries.
Figuring out what to say to yourself when you get super pissed at dad/boss/ex/religion, etc
The two main factors you MUST focus on if you want to move beyond all this bitterness and hatred
