You have a big decision to make. Maybe it’s about a new job. Or if you should move across the country. Maybe ending a relationship… or starting one. And, you are totally fucking confused. Your head is spinning around in The Land of What Ifs. What if you don’t make the right choice? What if you regret it? What will your mom say?
I mean… how does one just make tough decisions? Write out a pros and cons list? Ask your besties what you should do? Then, why don’t any of those things help you feel solid and confident in your choice? Why are you still unsure and anxious?
Well, first off, you are soooo not alone. No one teaches us how to make powerful choices rooted in our own fulfillment. We’re taught to check off lists and fit into boxes and craft a life that complies. And what no one ever tells you is that often leads to massive disappointment. Let’s flip that script, shall we?
In this episode, I cover off five major concepts you MUST employ to make powerful decisions (so you don’t end up super consumed with what your family will think or being mowed over by guilt or regret).
This pod explores:
The absolute FIRST question you must ask yourself before venturing into the decision-making process (this makes every choice waaaaaay easier!)
The one emotion you MUST acknowledge in order to make strong and confident choices
How to know if you are scared because you’re making the right decision or because you’re making the wrong one
The people’s opinions you should care about and the people you need to leave out of it (this may surprise you!)

If you’re like most people, you learned how to address conflict through a process of trial and error. Maybe it was just how your parents did things… just sweeping things under the rug or telling little white lies to make sure everyone else was happy.
And, then you get into your adult life and wonder why you are always pulled to tell lies about why you can’t make it to that one work event instead of simply saying that you have plans. Or maybe now there is a shit-ton of conflict in your relationship, but you keep telling everyone else about it… just not your spouse.
Listen, Love. If this is your sitch you are soooo not alone. It’s likely that you simply were never taught HOW to actually speak up for yourself and say what you really mean. In last week’s episode, I covered off 6 major communication habits we tend to fall into instead of simply saying what we really mean. In this week’s edition, I cover off what you can actually DO about those patterns so that you can truly stand up for yourself. With grace and kindness, of course.
This pod explores:
The questions you MUST ask yourself when you feel pulled to write something off or “sweep it under the rug”
How to use jokes and being passive aggressive as a gate-way to actually say what you mean (this one is easy!)
The best way to enter into a challenging convo so that the other person is waaaaay more likely to listen
My favorite way to decline invites without being a big ‘ol liar (You can do this, I promise!)

I get it. You were told to never hurt anyone’s feelings. You were told to “not rock the boat”. You were told to “not let people down”. And you took that to heart. When you had a problem with something your bestie said, you swept it under the rug. Don’t rock the boat. When you had probs in the bedroom, you told your bestie and your therapist, but you could neeeever tell your spouse! I mean… that would destroy him/her.
And, you continue this pattern throughout your life. When you’re pissed at your boss, you find co-workers to collude with, but never bring up the issue to the powers that be. When you don’t like how your mother-in-law is butting into your parenting, you bite your lip. And, then maybe have an explosive fight with your partner about it.
Listen, I feel you. For many of us, we have lived our entire lives believing that saying what we really mean is a recipe for disaster and should be avoided at all costs. But here’s the clincher: If you constantly do and say shit instead of saying what you really need/want/feel, you are sending yourself a huge, subconscious message that everyone else’s wants, needs, and opinions are more important than yours. Not to mention that you’re kinda being a liar.
In this episode, I look at six common tactics we employ instead of saying what we really mean, hoping that the other party will be able to read our signs and signals and magically be what we need. How’s that working out? That’s what I thought.
This pod explores:
The most common self-talk we use to justify “sweeping it under the rug”
How joking about shit you’re actually serious about is completely shooting yourself in the foot
How to know if there is something you need to give voice to… even if you really don’t want to
The ways in which you may be a big ‘ol liar and haven’t even realized it (It’s okay. We can fix it.)

Recently a listener wrote in to the show, asking what to do when you find yourself feeling stuck. You know that racket, no? Stuck in a relationship… stuck in a soul-sucking job… stuck in a friendship that doesn’t serve you. The list goes on.
Many times, when we feel “stuck”, we look outside ourselves for the magic answer instead of addressing things that are totally within our power. Without knowing it, we fall into patterns and habits that ultimately leave us feeling stagnant and we forget to take action on the things that we already know bring us joy. Like, getting back to that knitting project you loved. Or picking up your guitar again. Whatever… you get the picture.
In this episode, I dig into seven different strategies and questions you can ask yourself to break out of your stuck-ness in order to create much more happiness and fulfillment. You may actually be super surprised how easy it can be!
This pod explores:
Why you think you “don’t have a choice” and what the real truth is
How to break up the monotony of your habits and switch shit up, creating much more momentum and movement
How to clear out the clutter in your world that is unknowingly keeping you stuck-as-fuck
Why you must create a plan if you want to change your current situation

If you’re like most people, chances are you have bought into the idea that if other people like and approve of you, you must be worthy. And conversely, if people don’t like or approve of you, you must be a total failure. If you’ve been rejected by a lover (or a few), it can be easy to come to the conclusion that you are unloveable. If you’ve been passed over for a promotion a time or two, it’s easy to surmise that you are incompetent and simply not “smart enough”.
Whether consciously or otherwise, we tend to create conclusions about our self-worth based off of how other people respond to us. In essence, we think, If I receive a bunch of compliments, that must be proof that I’m worthy and if I receive criticisms that must be proof that I’m a complete loser. And then we live into this belief through our own self talk, behaviors, and what we choose to tolerate. And, trust… no one does this on purpose. No one says, “Let me put my entire self-worth in everyone else’s hands.” Of course not.
This episode explores our natural human tendency to attach ourselves to what others think of us, in turn, radically affecting our self-esteem and self-worth. Have a listen and learn three, easy tools you can use to begin finding your power internally instead of from external approval.
This pod explores:
My favorite metaphor to use to evaluate if you are unnecessarily taking on someone else’s opinion as your truth (Like, your ex thinks you’re lazy, so you’ve decided that must be true)
How no amount of self-help with make criticism feel good and how to address it without drowning yourself in a bottle of wine
My personal story of dealing with R O U G H criticism and how I chose to process it
How to decipher what is your responsibility and what isn’t (hint: NOT your job to make everyone like you)

Even though it’s not quite as popular as it was a handful of years ago, I find that people are still really interested in the Law of Attraction and what it really takes to actually manifest shit in your life.
I mean… do you just state what you want and magically the Universe just drops it at your doorstep? Um, obviously not. If that was how it worked we would all be sporting some fabulous Jimmy Choos, chillin’ at a Beyonce concert(s), having killer spouses (and sex), and only amazing-ass friendships. So, just deciding what you want to manifest is only a small piece of the manifestation puzzle.
In this episode, I share my 5-step system to manifesting damn-near anything you desire. No really. But, guess what? It’s going to take action. And planning and willingness and commitment. And maybe even some tough choices. But, honey, you DO have the pow-ah to create some serious magic. #trust
This pod explores:
What the universe needs to hear from you when you declare your desired goal
How to identify the clutter you need to eliminate to make space for what you really want
What it means to get into “inspired action” and why this is CRUCIAL to making shit happen
Why dismissing compliments and/or support from others may be seriously stifling your manifestation

Unless you’ve reached monk-like peace with your body, chances are you have gone to blows with that lovely bag of bones that moves your spirit around this planet. Perhaps it’s your weight, or maybe your skin, or even an ailment or disease, but whatever the case, if you’re like most people, you have found yourself angry at your body… and maybe even downright hateful.
We gain weight; we talk shit to our bodies. We have breakout; we tell the person in the mirror how gross she is. Our health wanes, and we tell our body it is betraying us. We often have vitriolic relationships with our bodies and in turn, with ourselves. And, then we continue to collude with others who hate their hips or arms or we find others who wants to play a game of “you think that’s bad… at least you don’t have…” and it becomes an ailment comparison game. Um… no one really wins that game. We keep the scales in our bathroom and compare ourselves to people on Facebook. All things we can totally control, btw.
In this episode, I look at five steps you can take TODAY to begin healing this broken relationship. And, I’m not going to tell you to just love the extra 50 pounds or “make peace” with your bad back. It just may be a refreshing new perspective you haven’t considered.
This pod explores:
The few statements you MUST stops saying if you want to make friends with your bod
How to separate your circumstance (being overweight or sick) from your relationship with your body… This is really a thing!
How to come to your body’s rescue… especially if you’ve made a big mess
The exact language I use to speak to my body (And, no it’s not ‘you’re so beautiful and I love you’)

___________ So, maybe you want to start dating again. Or perhaps you’re dying to start your own biz. Or maybe you’re dying to lose that damn extra weight. Or apply for your dream job. Or fill-in-the-blank. And yet, you haven’t started yet because this voice in your head screams, “I’m not ready!!”
So, you put it off a bit longer with a litany of excuses. “I’ll start dating again after I lose 20 pounds.” “I’ll start my biz after I take another marketing course.” “Well, I can’t go back to the gym until I’ve built up more muscle.” I mean… Sound familiar?
Listen, trust. I get it. Putting yourself out there is scary as all shit. But like Michael Jordan says, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” It’s not about being perfect, and it’s not even about being really ready, it’s simply about taking action. In spite of your fear.
This week on the pod, I’m joined by my dear friend and colleague, Becca Tracey, as we dig into the major hurdles we face as we start to get ourselves out into the world and how we can look fear in the face and still choose bravery and action.
This pod explores:
Becca’s personal story of bravely starting her business in a van (yes, you read that right) and how that was the best choice to get her into action
The biggest lie people buy into about “being ready” to put themselves out there
What separates the “DOers” from the “Not Readys”
How to navigate fear that arrises when you attempt something new and scary

Have you ever felt sure about a choice you’ve made only to be met with friends and/or family who make it abundantly clear that they do not like your choice? And, then you start second guessing the choice you made? Yeah. Me too.
Recently, a listener wrote in to the show expressing a similar issue: She had made the choice not to go to a family function (which sounded like hell to her) and her sister completely gave her the cold shoulder for three [fucking] months. When the sister finally came clean about what was bothering her, she not only didn’t listen to any reasoning, but called the listener selfish and accused her of always doing what she wanted to do no matter what.
Well, shit. So, this listener wanted to know, “How do I avoid being perceived as selfish or uncaring when I say no to something others want me to do or when I create boundaries?” You KNOW I had a shit-ton to say on this one, no? In this episode I break down 6 concepts to be aware of so that you aren’t totally and completely destroyed if mom doesn’t like your choice of mate or if your sister doesn’t think you should take that job. And more importantly, so you don’t keep changing your behavior just to make everyone else happy.
This pod explores:
The shitty thing about personal development (WHAT? I know, right!?)
How to allow yourself to be bummed-the-fuck-out by other people’s responses to you without making it mean you did something wrong
How to get laser focused on what is your responsibility and how to let everything else go (Um… instead of obsessing)
How to know who you can and can’t share information with

Unless you’re some kind of alien species living amongst us humans (in which case… #creepy), you undoubtedly have a litany of go-to behaviors or actions you employ when you straight-up Don’t. Want. To. Deal. In Millennial language, the shit you do when you Literally Can’t Even.
Sometimes it can be “noble” go-to behaviors like over-working, throwing yourself into parenting, or working out like Jillian on crack instead of really looking at what it is that you don’t want to feel. And perhaps you have some not-so-noble behaviors like blaming everyone else (like your ex) or binging out on some Ben n’ Jerry’s or drinking a bottle of wine all by yourself… simply because being with the guilt/self-loathing/embarrassment/grief/overwhelm/sadness, just feels waaaaaay too unbearable.
If any of that sounds eerily familiar, no need to bust out more Bn’J’s or start a new business to distract yourself… In fact, it just means that you’re fucking human. And just like most human behavior, the more you understand it and have compassion for it, the more you can create empowering change. In this week’s episode I’m joined by my bestie (and total badass) Andrea Owen where we discuss how to identify your go-to, self-sabotaging behaviors and how you can start altering them for the better.
This pod explores:
How to figure out what your go-to, self-sabotaging behaviors are (including some you may be shocked by!)
What the 80/20 rule is an how it applies to dealing with uncomfortable emotions
How blame and control tend to be easy go-to’s when you’re overwhelmed/stressed/pissed and how to channel (not squash) that energy for the better
Why you MUST embrace self-sabotage if you ever want to create change
